The talented and stunning late actress Grace Kelly married Prince Ranier III of Monaco on April 19, 1956. She wore one of the most iconic wedding dresses in history, which has been recreated and readapted several times for both celebrities and non-famous people on their wedding day.
The dress was gifted by her studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and designed by the Academy Award-winning costume designer Helen Rose, who had created the star’s wardrobe for four films. In order to enhance her “fairy princess image”, the silhouette had a bell shape made of ivory faille and supported by three attached petticoats. The train was made in lace to contrast the structure of the gown and it was circular specifically to not hide and obscure Kelly’s famous face.
Nowadays, the dress is exhibited in the Philadelphia Museum, where it has become one of the collection‘s move popular and beloved objects.
