Last Friday, June the 5th, Yolancris’ creative director, Yolanda Pérez, participated in the “2nd FASHINNOVATION WORLDWIDE TALKS”.
Under the baton of the Editor in Chief of Vogue Mexico & Latam, Karla Martínez de Salas, a group of enterpreneur women from the fashion industry spoke about their work, their projects and their firm commitment to sustainability, diversity and culture.
The panelmates were Farai Simoyi (founder of The Narativ), Marcia Kemp (founder of the Nannacay Creativehands) and Laerke Skyum (co-founder of AYNI). Women with different origins, locations and creative ideas who share a series of fundamental values for the development of their communities.
The topics of the talk ‘Culture and Design‘ of the second edition of the Fashinnovation Worldwide Talks, which specifically addressed the situation of the sector in Spain and Latin America, as well as the important role that crafts and sustainable fashion, were:
COVID-19
Immediate adaptation and willingness to serve society -as has been the case with our production of protective clothing like medical isolation gowns and masks.
THE “NEW NORMALITY”
Continuing to work with local production standards is a firm commitment in this group of women entrepreneurs. This continuity is key for the well-being and development of the local economy, culture and society.
SUSTAINABILITY: FROM FABRICS TO PEOPLE
In all kinds of organizations human talent is one of the pillars. A good human resources policy requires being consistent with the commitment to a sustainable brand.
Something as simple as getting to know each and every person, involving them in the brand’s values and missions, promoting their professional development, is a key point. And more in these times when teamwork is essential.
TRANSPARENCY AND COHERENCE
Each and every one of the panelists spoke of their own reality, of their challenges and obstacles in the face of this uncertain time.
Openly, aware of the situation, its limitations and its willingness to continue browsing.
ADAPTED SCANNING
The creative director of the Firm spoke of her personal involvement from minute zero in this unexpected scenario and in providing technological solutions adapted to this new reality.
Yolanda Pérez has contributed to making the next Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2020 possible, participating in the design and adaptation of a digital platform in which the virtual experience joins the physical one and where, in addition, enhances real-time dialogue between designer, buyers and end customers.
An idea that has enchanted the organization of the VBBFW from the first moment and that we will be able to see next September.
PROTECTION OF TRADES LOCAL CRAFTS
Something in which the participants also agreed was to promote crafts related to local sewing and trade. Without a doubt, this is not only a part related to sustainable fashion, but it also represents a key part in the development of the professional future of young people – especially those who love fashion, but who hardly have the resources to access prestigious universities.
In this aspect, the firms claim their work as key training centers for the fashion industry.
This new edition of the FASHINNOVATION Worldwide Talks has once again proved to be the forum in which to learn, be inspired and carry out initiatives and projects. Two intense days of talks, with real voices and leaders with the faithful commitment to fight against COVID-19 and adapt Fashion to a new reality that helps improve our society.
