The pop-folk singer and songwriter Russian Red chose Yolancris for the costume design of her exclusive return to the stages. For the creation of the singer’s costume design, Yolancris worked together with the renowned costume designer Ana López Cobos. Both teams developed the shakespearean entitled theme “A Summer Dream”.
Russian Red’s return was limited to one single gig in her home country, Spain. The occasion celebrated the ten year anniversary of her renowned debut album ‘I love your glasses’. The event took place on July 31st 2019 at the music festival Noches del Botánico in Madrid. She shared the night with the also Spanish indie rock band Rufus T. Firefly.
For the show, Russian Red and her costume designer Ana López Cobos developed the “A Summer Dream” shakespearean theme. For doing so, they showcased an electric forest on stage. The concert lightning accompanied a set design full of elements from nature and textures reminiscent of the petals of flowers.
This oniric world fused with the contemporary dance of the company Ate9 andthe video art of Virgili Jubero. Classical instrumentation joined Russian Red’s folk and pop music. And Yolancris and Carlota Barrera designs finished to create the mood for the feminine and masculine costumes respectively.
Fantasy volumes transformed the silhouette of the singer. Pleated tulle, moiré ruffles, fringes and feathers and transparencies were used for her on stage dresses. An intricate of embroideries and rhinestones textures archetipical Yolancris accompanied the dreamlike atmosphere and the lights and glooms of the show.
