With a strong 70s inspiration, the show of the 2020 Bridal collection was accompanied with music by Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and closed by the legendary Jet’s ‘Are you gonna be my girl’. Meanwhile, the catwalk was guarded by two screens with the Firm’s archive footage combined with videoclips, live gigs and films that are inspiration and referent for the creative director, Yolanda Pérez. These represented moments of liberation, independence, spontaneity. Rita Hayworth, Mike Jagger, Billy Elliot, Charles Chaplin, David Bowie, Queen, La Dolce Vita or Woodstock 69, for instance. “Rockers, hippies… there was equality and everybody was able to have a good time and feel special. And they knew how to show it”. The referents of the creative director Yolanda Pérez come from the countercultural movements of the ’60s and’ 70s, as well as from the art world, that as a result she portrays in her collections and fashion shows. – The Yolancris 2020 Bridal collection celebrates the concept of freedom. Freedom as individuality, as difference, as exploration. – No fear is reminiscent and an ode to the freest moments in history in which clothing and aesthetics have marked and created important inputs that still exists today. – Consequently, No fear creates wedding dresses taking inspiration from the historical moments in which women have been able to feel free and show their femininity.
